Summit Family Practice Welcomes the Return of Mary Barrett, FNP to our Palmer Office.
Mary Barretts's Patient Care Philosophy–
I believe in working collaboratively with my patients to maximize their health and/or reducing complications from chronic illness. With my nursing background I look at the entire person and consider the person’s life situation, before making recommendations and developing a health care plan. I believe that eating nutrient dense foods, doing enjoyable exercise, getting enough sleep, and reducing stress improve our health and help prevent chronic disease. I am especially interested in nutrition and am passionate about teaching how to choose healthful foods and read and interpret the nutritional analysis on the back of boxes and cans of food. I am excited to be back at Summit Family Practice in Palmer.
Travel Medicine Services! SFP is happy to announce that we are now offering comprehensive travel medicine consultations for your upcoming overseas travel. We offer vaccinations and prescriptions necessary for travel, personalized to your travel destination and anticipated activities. We will provide you with the latest recommendations to make your trip as safe and healthy as possible. Be sure you schedule your travel consult early to make sure the vaccines have time to work Please bring your immunization record to your appointment.

Alberta Laktonen M.D. to our Anchorage office.
Dr. Laktonen's Patient Care Philosophy– I believe in providing education and guidance to my patients, allowing them to make the best choices for their healthcare. Prevention is one of my passions. I like to make sure my patients are up-to-date with their immunizations as well as screening labs and tests. I practice cost-effective evidence based medicine. Forming long-term relationships with my patients, as well as their family and community, is important to me. I see myself as an advocate for my patients, and strive to be available to them so I can answer questions and address concerns. I am excited to be joining the excellent team at Summit Family Practice and look forward to meeting the healthcare needs of our patients.
