  Providers
 S. Lynne Hornbein, M.D.
S. Lynn Hornbein, M.D. is a Board Certified Family Physician. She attended the University of Washington School of Medicine, graduating in 1987 with an M.D. and a Masters in Public Health. She did a three-year residency in Family Medicine in Ogden, Utah and Tacoma, Washington. She moved to Alaska in 1990 and founded Summit Family Practice in 1993. She enjoys hiking, skiing, gardening and quilting. Her favorite outdoor activity is mushing with her team of six Samoyeds.
 Jeff Russell, PA-C
Jeffrey Russell, PA-C has practiced at Summit Family Practice since 1996. He graduated top of his class at Duke University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program where he also earned a Masters of Health Science. He provides care for all members of the family, including physicals for school, employment, DOT, and USCG. He also practices Tai Chi. In his free time he enjoys skijoring and sheep herding with his Samoyed, Squall.
 Donna Hanson, PA-C
Donna J. Hanson, PA-C received her Masters of Physician Assistant from the University Of Nebraska School of Medicine, completing her family practice training at Carswell AFB, TX. She is certified in Family Medicine and has been practicing for 19 years. She is retired from the Air Force and has four children, ages from 13-26. The oldest is currently attending the University of Texas San Antonio to complete her Masters of Physician Assistant studies. She and her children enjoy camping and hiking.
 Alberta Laktonen M.D. Alberta Laktonen, M.D. is a Board Certified Family Physician. She was born and raised on Kodiak Island, the oldest of four sisters. Married with two rescue dogs, Rowdy and Isis, she enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and vegetarian cooking.

  Clinical Staff
 Susan Guinn RN, BSN, M.Ed
Susan Guinn RN, BSN, M.Ed, Clinical Nurse Manager. Susan brings a diverse background to Summit Family Practice, to include a Bachelor of Science from William and Mary University in 1980. She also was involved in the ovarian cancer research at Duke University, infertility research at Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, and received a Masters in Education at Duquesne University. She taught high school in Pennsylvania and also in England while her husband served as an Air Force pilot, She returned to school and graduated with B.S. Nursing in 2006 from Oakland University and currently lives in Alaska with her husband and two children. She enjoys cycling, hiking, grilling and travel in her free time.
 Denise Minard, MA
Denise Minard, MA brings ten years of experience to the practice. She is well traveled and a former military Medical Assistant. She has fallen in love with Alaska and intends to remain here. She is a mother of a very active young boy and enjoys the outdoors and all the adventures that come from raising a son.

  Front Office and Administrative Staff
 Tonya Edwards
Tonya R. Edwards, front desk receptionist, brings over 20 years of experience in the medical field to our practice. She comes to us via Chicago, IL and Tyler, TX. She has two children and in her free time enjoys music, reading and cooking.
 Gail Agen
Gail Agen, billing office. She also has experience as a Certified Medical Assistant and has been an Alaskan resident for thirty years. She enjoys going to her lake cabin year round, gardening, and spending time with her extended family.
 Sheena Tuck
Sheena M. Tuck, billing office. Sheena graduated from Charter College with her Associates Degree in Medical Office Administration. A lifelong Alaskan and mother of three, she treasures her time with her children and extended family.
 Rachel Lacy
Rachel A. Lacy, Practice Manager is originally from Nebraska and moved to Alaska seven years ago after completing her enlistment in the U.S. Navy. She has over 12 years experience in health care and is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and E/M auditor through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). In her free time she enjoys reading, traveling, and the Alaska outdoors.
 Ellen Cowgill
B. Ellen Cowgill, Practice Administrator, is originally from Tennessee and holds a B. S. in Business and Industry from Mississippi State University. She moved to Anchorage more than 15 years ago to continue her career in medical office administration and has more than 30 years experience in medical office management, accounting, teaching and consulting. In addition to family practice, her background includes specialties such as ENT, Allergy and Immunology, Pediatrics and Ob/Gyn. Her two children are grown and she and her husband enjoy anything that has to do with their six grandchildren.
 Tonya Tonya Faeo, front desk receptionist, is married with four children. She is originally from Oklahoma but has lived in Alaska for over twenty years. She enjoys camping, reading, watching old movies and spending time with her family.
